How to Improve Surface Smoothness of ABS Profiles

I. ABS Profiles Guarantee the Surface Brightness of Products in Die Design and Manufacture

The design of the die runner structure should ensure that the material flow velocity of each part of the die section is the same as possible, the speed of the inner rib should not be too different from that of the outer wall (generally not more than 15%), and the thickness should not exceed 2/3 of the outer wall thickness; the surface of the die cavity should achieve sufficient processing accuracy, and the surface roughness should generally be more than Ra0.2mm. It is suggested that the surface of the die should be electroplated. The structure design of the water and air passage of the die should ensure sufficient cooling, uniformity and sufficiently adsorptive force, and the brightness retaining plate can be set at the entrance of the die to improve the brightness of the visible surface of the profile. The design of the strain of the die should be as close as possible to the rheological state of the material and the production speed.

2. Reasonable adjustment of extrusion process to improve surface brightness of products

In the actual production process of ABS profiles, the process temperature, speed and pressure are adjusted buried together according to the plasticized state of the material to ensure the good plasticization of the material, and on this basis, the die temperature is increased appropriately. If a separate heating zone (usually about 10 mm long) is set at the exit of the die forming section to control the temperature independently, it will be more advantageous to improve the surface brightness of the product.
